Blue Spader Token

(1/1)

germanicus:
Hi all,

I'm from Germany and found this badge near Staffelbach at Bamerg / Bavaria / Germany.

I've already found out that it is the badge of the 26th Infantry 1st Division of the U.S. Army.

Can someone tell me what time it comes from? Is it from the time of the Second World War or later? Here in the area were often held maneuver, so it could also come from there.
Where has it been worn, anyway? Cap, Shoulder etc.?

Sorry for my really bad English.

BitburgAggie_7377:
Hi Germanicus and welcome to THunting.com.

The current version of the 26th Infantry Regiment distinctive unit insignia was approved in April 1973.   I am still looking for a picture of the WWII version.   I know that the WWII version of their shoulder patch was much different than this, so for the time being I am going to tentatively say this is from 1973 or later (about the time I left Germany  :) .)   If it is World War II era, it would have been worn on the shoulder of an officer's uniform or on the lapel of an enlisted man's.   Today, it would be worn on the left side of the garrison cap or above the right breast.

The uniform ist from 1946 and the patch looks very similar, but the background ist white (also now a days)...(?)

I guess the insignia was lost in maneuvers in the 70th.
