I bought these two items cause I liked them and have interest in them. I thought to share them and see if any ideas on the

Yeah, I may be a proud Southerner, but members of the Grand Army of the Republic played a really big role in the history of the United States between 1870 and 1920 or so.  So much so, that it is hard to be a serious student of US history between the Civil War and the Spanish American War without taking them into account.  The main Southern equivalent was United Confederate Veterans.  The two group did do a lot to end the lingering animosity, especially once the participants got up in age.   More importantly they were the examples for both the VFW and the American Legion.
