Thank's for the reply, I live in Johor Bahru, so probably Desaru beach areas. I occasionally visit Penang so maybe beaches there also. I don't think there is much point in inland searching..........I wouldn't know where to start.

Thank you very much for the Malaysian Laws document, it's both interesting and informative, I appreciate your time and effort. All I need to do now is actually get out in the field and go searching............while trying to avoid getting fried by the sun.

You're welcome, and no effort was expended; I have most of M'sian laws on hdd. Please note that laws in East M'sia on this matter are not exactly the same, should you intend to detect there. Happy hunting.
