Silki, those finds are great... have you identified all the shells yet? I can probably help you there if you need to know..... I also found a button a while ago.... I have it on my own website at

Pgill , will appreciate  yours help ! As I mentioned before , fort itself is very scenic but it is rather for show ( I think , it is partially rebuild ) . For us , interesting part is in the bush around where is many like defense positions (?) ,some ruins , completely abandoned . Those shells are coming from those places , most of them are like blanks (?) . I hear that many years ago military played war games there or some exercises ?

Hi Silki.
Well if they where like us in the army , then look under any bush or object you can see. When I was on training, we used to bury 100's if not thousands of them ....to get rid of the weight!
At sites like this I like to just let my mind run, try and get into the role of the people that where here....what is around you, what would they have done for entertainment? What can be seen from here that catches your eye, things like that. It works quite well up to now and I have hit some nice hot spots like this.
DEFINITELY scan those dry packed walls... really slowly.
Lucky I say.....

Viking - give me some ideas ! I came across , at that place , on some spot with signal from the large object , after digging and removing some rocks i got to large metal plate +/- 1 m x 70 cm ,very rusty , I tough , maybe somebody buried some dead pet or something , but it was  just in front of the broken house window  - who wants to bury dead think just next to ones window ? I didnt have time to explore it deeper ,so just cover it back to original state and just trying to remember the spot !

Shocked How could you leave the thing there and not knowing whats inside or under it ? ? ? I would have sleepless nights over it LOL. The old folks use to hide there valuables from the Brits by burying them in just such places COULD BE THE KRUGER Millions  LOL

All the best

Viking..I think you guys are coming close to the record if you aren't there already. LOL Jim
PS: I enjoy reading em.

PSS: Silki, what Viking and Peter are telling you is the truth but they forgot one most important thing.
I sent Viking the gold and apparently he gave it to Peter to hide it for me for when I return to SA. You see my divorce was going to be a messy one so I had to hide it the best way I knew how. Thank you for finding MY gold. Regards and good luck to you. Jim
