You see what I mean PGill, we don't have places like this in Cape Town. You guys are lucky.
Beach ...or....Old Boer war Fort...da! Smiley
Probably for the best that I am in Cape Town...or I would never get any real work done!

Xavier.
I do quite a lot of resin and polymer concrete casting. I think a coil cast in crystal clear could look quite good. You know come to think of it, building custom coils could be a nice  sideline Smiley

Just detect the site and if someone asks say Silki sent you lol!
I have no idea what is monument and what is free game up there. The fort you where at in the video on your site....what is the story with that? I sure hope that is not supposed to be a monument.
Any way let's keep our thinking caps on about a solution to your observation above, my good man
There just has to be a way......

Hi  Pgill ! Glad ,U like it !You must came sometime so we can try our luck together  - alone does not feel very safe ! Unfortunately , place looks much better than deliver ! It is quiet popular tourist destination ,people even using it for " Geocatching " .Ground is rocky and very hard , but i managed to find some old stuff there - like bullets etc. - will post some photos later ! What is more promising is some old broken houses around and old church. The button is from ruin of the house ! I visited also  place called Diamond Hill - old Anglo - Boere battlefield . Again very large area, in private hands, but managed to start good contacts with one of the owners , so I am welcome any time ! so far I was there only for about 1 hour  and find old ,very rusty knife , deep under the rock and some metal shrapnels (?)  Again , will post some photos later. Will try to make photos of my finds now . See U later !

Viking, that fort in the video is the Klipriversburg Fort.... it is a monument as are all Boer war sites as such.... the only place that you can really get away detecting is on private property that is what I do,,,, I detect the field across the road.... But as you can see the fort is being stripped by locals for the bricks.

You VIKING  !! One day I will visit  U ..! I am so jealous about all lovely and rich beaches and undiscovered wreck you have got ! Than ,we poor boys ,from the interior, we must do something to impress you !Well , all that places are not monuments ,that just places slowly forgotten by everybody and destroyed by others ...! I did spend hours on internet and speaking to people , and nobody anymore knows where exactly  battle of Diamond Hill took place ! There is kilometers of rocky hills ( all private farms ) with one monument ,which is in very unlikely spot and thats all ! See the photos of some of the places , some of my finds and me with my friend!
