You boys are scarin' me now!

It is pretty shameful, Peter, that you blame the beer!  Beer never hurt anyone!!  I can't drink it like I used to, but I still like the flavors.  I never had any trouble with beer...   except the time I drove my car off the road...  and the other time I rolled a car...  and the time I broke the full whiskey bottle after the beer...  and the time I couldn't stand up at the dance...  and the times (many, many)  I puked my guts out (and other things I didn't know I had) and swore I would never, ever do that again... and... and... and...  .  But beer never hurt anyone!

X, okay, hippie,  I gotcha!  Grin  But I have to say about cows,  I grew up in an extremely rural area and still live in a rural area and have dealt with cows most of my life, off and on.  I don't deal with them on a daily basis, but they sure ACT stupid in most of my experiences!   Grin  Okay, I know they're not the dumbest animals on earth but they sure give that impression a lot of time!  LOL.

You guys have good hunting and "Keep on swingin'!"                        Detecting

Greetings All, I spent one summer at a cattle ranch and I can tell you, most cows just play dumb.
Sure, you can place food or a salt lick in a spot where you want them to congregate, but show up
with an electric prod or a truck that has hauled off lots of their brothers and sisters, and they know.
I just know I hauled and stacked enough hay to last me for a long long time.  HH Robroy59

Greetings to all, I've been out of it for a while. Haven't done much detecting this month because my big cache project got side tracked. The land owner stopped returning my phone calls so I guess the hunt is off. OH Well!!! you win some and you lose some. Weather is great here. Tomorrow it will be 80 F. I'm going even though I have lots to do around here. My Fisher is calling. Its cool and the grass is short I think I'll take a road trip. About Cows. I don't know how the subject came up but the last hunt I did took me into a cow pasture. I had a satellite image of a house site out in the pasture. When I got there there were about 30 cows standing on a little hill where the house had been. I crossed the fence and waited them out. It took about half an hour before they moved on. When they left a bull stayed behind and watched me. He kept watching me and wouldn't leave so I moved very slowly to the house site detected back and forth in front of the bull who was getting twitchie and pawing the ground. As I was retreating the bull came full bore at me. Fortunately I made it back into a grove of pines and he refused to come in. I got out of there without getting busted up by the bull and with an old budweiser can.gambol Grin

Guys, I am sorry about blaming the beer for the bad spelling, but it was the voices that did it  Crazy As for cows being stupid, I am no expert in cows, but since knowing X, even he is not getting any more clever and keeps licking in funny places.... I take it that it had to do with him working with the cows  Funny Funny Funny Funny Funny

I need to get out detecting, but the frigging grass is too long now..... I must start thinking about those parks etc... that is desperate  Exhausted

Grin Grin Grin First off I must say that I could not log onto thunting.com yesterday  Angry but I wasn't mad, no not me. Robroy59 has a point cows know when something unusual is going on and when I treat them like with foot rot they know that I'm helping them the problem with cows that you do not have with sheep is the sheer mass one cow 400 to 500Kg you don't just turn her over like you would do with a sheep  Grin also cows are difficult to maintain a good condition which I don't seem to have with sheep but cows are hardy animals where as sheep need more attention (what makes you think that metal detecting aint working for me at the moment)   Cheesy

Now then did I not tell you that I think that I have found a grave on the farm? I'm sure that I did any how my plan was to clean the place up and look for a head stone (Now is that one word or two?) it could be quite interesting like why would the grave be so far from the house? I know that the house was build in the 1800 but that's about all so yes there is quite a bit of research that we could do on this farm (Or about this farm) one thing that I can tell you is that it was subdivided into portions and that it was about 15Km long from the info that I managed to get but I still have to find out how wide it was. From what I have been told it would have been about 10Km (But you know how it is people like to make thing bigger that what they actually are) you must try and find out about the Noit gedaagt farm (Not sure about the spelling though)

Well, l looked on the farm but could not find any place that looks like there was anything of interest  No no! But if it is from the 1800's there has to be stuff to be found near the house.... Umm we need to start checking for places near the field etc  Great I just looked around the area and have found those old kraals at the foot of the mountain, might be worth looking at  Idea Also across the road and in a bit from the old house on the corner, there are some old building ruins.... would need to get permission, but might be worth the effort  Teach Not sure, but next to that little house we did on the corner, there could be another ruin there.... not clear on Google, but can see a square (or what looks like one)  Grin
