Hello All

Legend or reality?

Here is a series of interesting newspaper reports on an alleged diamond find in 1883. It was later stated to be a hoax. However what you will find interesting 20 years later there 2 alleged mining experts recovering stones???

And strange enough one of samples was confirmed to be a diamond.

NZ has many fault lines and volcanoes. It may be possible that there is a small diamond pipe in one of the hot spots along the wellington fault line. The Australasian plate is grinding along the pacific plate.

Only a diamond will scratch a diamond. Diamonds will float in Cerici's solution adjusted with distilled water 3.6 and has a specific gravity of 3.52.  Diamonds hardness is 10 on the Mon's scale.

Was there any truth to the find or was it all a hoax?

Today the official stance is that there is no diamond bearing pipes in NZ.

I will let you decide.

Hardluck  Wink
