As you can see, i'm a newbie ( i started in 2012 )
at detecting and i was given a Bounty Hunter 1100 Discovery last year.
I have found loonies, pennies an a nickel or 2.

Hi and welcome to the site.
I would have to say, read all that you can on this site (i think it's the best one) and one thing that i
found is not to use discrimination at first if you have it. Dig all that you find, it could be anything.
Take water with you, you can get thirsty quickly on a hot day. I started at the beach for it was easier
digging. Get a good scoop or you can do like i did and make your own. I went to a farm supply
place and asked for a plastic grain scoop, the ones that are used for feeding small farm animals.
Drill some holes in it and your set. I use a handheld garden spade for digging. You can
always upgrade later.

I hope this helps, if you have more questions please feel free to ask, thats what we do  Smiley

Happy hunting

I was asked if we use blow torch here in Canada to melt the snow and ice, no, we dont use blow torches here in Canada, we just get a few politicians to pay a visit, they are full of enough hot air to melt polar ice caps  Mad . Pembroke Ontario is still frozen over from all the sub zero temps but i think we will see some signs of lawn this month.

Go Up Go Down

Hey everyone, from Peterborough Ontario. I also like old finds like dean, haven't detected POW camp 30 yet but hope to get into part of it maybe before they rip it all down and turn it into housing. I have detected part of Camp X, (where people are allowed to). Not a ton of finds there but definitely some interesting ones. Would love to get to some more 1812 sites but most are just too far away to detect often. Good to see lots of Canadians getting into the hobby!
Take care,
Beau
