A MAN with a metal detector has found ancient treasure worth more than ?1million.

The amateur enthusiast discovered four Iron Age gold neckbands in a field. He now stands to net a fortune.

The exact location of the field is being kept a secret to prevent a "gold rush". But the Record can reveal the gold was found in a field near Stirling.

it was roughly about 3/6 miles from where i live. the guy is a keeper at the local safari. it was his first outing with his new detector , he said he only walked about 5 yards or so and it went off.stirling area is more or less the gateway to the highlands and the boats used to come right up to here.plus we have also had our far few shares of battles here. under scottish law it belongs to scotland and he may be entitled to a reward. england is slightly different with the law and finds.
