The gold bar was found in 1980 at the Santa Margarita shipwreck off the Florida Keys. The 74.85 oz bar had been on display at the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum in Key West for over 20 years. "It was locked in a see-through case that allowed visitors to touch and lift it, while keeping it secure."

The Gold Bar is most likely insured by Lloyds of London , just a drop in the bucket for the Fisher Family .
The unknown lucky Pawn shop and its local economy will enjoy the economic boost .  :Smiley

Thanks, Jeff. Interesting to see the camera recording the theft. I wonder how long it took the museum to be aware of the bar being taken. If they had a car or boat ready, they might have got off the island.

In side job.

Some one some time knew the key to manipulating the ingot out of the box.

Blabbed there Gob and the word got out.

In the Military we call that ComSec, OpeSec.   I've been out of the Military for 20 years and still practice it.

In the days of WWII they had a saying, LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS.    It still works today.

Only a 10K$ reward. That fits with the Fisher crew. That museum is a big rip off. They probably make that much from the unsuspecting tourists every month. Most of the stuff in there is mock ups. Now the gold bar is gone, there is nothing to see!!  Save you money and check out the other bars in the area  Wink
