The majority of the reward money - £462,000 - went to David Booth, the chief ranger at Blair Drummond Safari Park, who found the valuable pieces of 2,000-year-old jewellery, hailed as one of the most important hoards of Iron Age Britain.

He discovered them in a field near his home, buried six inches beneath the surface, using a £240 metal detector.

Thanks for posting that! I dont know what that detector translates into US dollars but I'm guessing about bounty hunter type detector? lol Never ceases to amaze me in this hobby. Its the time in the field, not the equipment alot of times. If that coil passes over where nobody else's  passed over it, it's your's!

In the U.S. that kind of a find would come with a 30 year long series of law suites. The land owner would sue the finder, the state would sue the land owner and the finder and the Feds would sue them all.....and of course there would be one or two nonprofit conservation organizations suing too....Did I mention the lawyers suing to get their fees?  The finds would wind up in the melting pot and be sold to a junk dealer for $300.gambol

At the point of melt down, Pass it off to the Bankers. They could repackage it and sell it off for many times the actual value. Give them a good bonus for the hard work lol...

 Awesome finds  HH 2all
