Christian, that was another very interesting article you managed to find for us.  Growing up in the American Southwest, Gunnison is a familiar name on the maps (as in the city of Gunnison, Colorado and the Gunnison River).  Unfortunately, the man does not appear in the history books to nearly the same extent as many of his contemporaries like Carson, Fremont, Pike, and Beale.
