Bag of gold thought to be missing in Coosa River

. . .the man who tried to fake his suicide by jumping from a plane over Childersburg, is now claiming he landed in the Coosa River with a bag of gold that's worth $1.8 million. Locals think it is located on the Shelby County side of the Coosa River. Some fear Schrenker's revelation will bring a boat load of treasure hunters to the river.

Schrenker is spending the next 10 years in prison.

Economy the way it is and 1.8 million bag of gold - yeah, boat load of thunters might be interested  Shocked

Still never heard of him since the wiki page has NO info on him, just an invitation to start a page.

ok....for visual purposes, anyone who is old enough to remember LP records imagine a cube of albums.  (each album, in its jacket is roughly 12x12....and I guarantee you don't really want to handle a cubic foot of LP records, let a lone a cubic foot of gold  Smiley  I shipped 2 of those boxes back from Germany )

ah yes... the stray dot!!  thanks for the edit seldom  Great

and yes, i am old enough to remember LP's, i used to discos for parties and weddings and stuff and have hefted boxes of them!! to imagine trying to lift a box that big of gold is staggering, somehow i doubt that he could have jumped out of a plane with something like that.

now who was the other bloke who was meant to have jumped out of a plane with bags of money? some hijacker wasn't he? hijacked 727 so he could go out of the back stairs?

yeah, while I would seriously consider the possibility of him having gold cached/stashed somewhere, I think the Coosa River story is a) a red herring and b) an attempt to remain in the spotlight and c) away to cause the authorities problems by causing a gold rush.

(and thanks for clearing up the link problem --- something I've been guilty of, too)
