Looks like another detector and coil manufacturer is coming on the scene.  Black Dog Detectors from Spain.  A nice bunch of guys and their newest detector the Onix is in testing now.  I have pre-ordered one and will keep you posted.  I currently am using a NOKTA Golden Sense and a NOKTA Velox One with great success in some real trashy areas and am recovering some cut pieces of Spanish silver bars along with an assortment of old knives, forks and spoons.  Also finding the lead strips that were used to secure flint in the lock part of the old flintlock weapons.  Don't know if I'm allowed to post links on here but a Google search will get you to their website and a search for the Blackdog Onix on YOUTUBE shows some of the tests they are conducting.  They are currently in the field in my old detecting grounds in Spain testing the unit in high mineralized and iron trash ground.  ** Tried to upload pictures of my finds but the file is too big.....being an old f@rt I'll needs have one of my daughters or son-in-law show me how to edit for size.

Don't talk rubbish, why on earth would you pre order a machine when they have not even finished field testing it yet.

Nope, not advertising, just responding to this email I received from the board here.  To me this fell under the "interesting stuff" reference in the email and I thought I'd bring it up.

 Dear ganixle,

I'm not normally compelled to answer questions from someone that has no business or authority questioning me or from someone that can't kick my @$$ but I'll humor you and give it a lash.  I pre ordered for the same reason I did it with Troy Shadow X5, DEEPERS  MF-2008 and Magnetometer, Nokta Golden Sense, Nokta Velox One and now this Onix because I normally get them much cheaper or even free to test and play with long before they get on the market.  I've got the money to invest when I want to. Admittedly I've gotten a lemon or two but got my money back and more when I sold the ones I didn't want on Ebay.  These guys had produced a model BD-2 pro that one of my treasure hunting friends in Spain was using to hit Visigoth tombs.  This new model is a digital readout replacement for the BD-2.  I don't agree with tomb robbing but I know how deep the goodies are that were buried with these chaps and how hard it is to locate the broaches, rings, torques and fibulae at the depth they are normally found. A lot of money is still being made by semi-professional detectorists in Spain and a company making a detector suitable for one of these fellows is more than likely going to do real well for me on relics here and maybe even gold when I go out west.  I look at it like investing in the stock market....a gamble but sometimes it pays off.

Yes, it is a big no no...but they done it to themselves.  Never covering up their holes and what we call "tombing"...that is using a detector to discover a Celt-Iberian, Roman, Visigoth or other burial site and removing the goods they were buried with.  Back at the time I was stationed there in the 80's and 90's the market was wide open in the Plaza Mayor.  A really ornate Visigoth buckle gilded and with garnets set around could go for the equivalent of $5000.00 or more.  They still detect there but the market is more of an underground market for the coins and relics with buyers and sellers meeting in certain bars and conducting business over coffee or drinks.  All in all a very interesting and diverse place to treasure hunt and when I'm in country, I still go.  By day a tourist bird watcher looking the countryside over for signs of ancient civilization and at night with a detector using it like a blind man uses a walking stick.  No lights and everything by feel.  Dig the hole, sweep the hole, if the signal is still there dig some more, if not then start passing fist full of dirt over the coil until you find the target.  My best vacation foray netted me 38 medievals, a hand full of copper cobs from the 1600's, a gold Isabelle II, 80 Reale and a Carlos IV 4 escudo along with the assortment of lead, buckles, scabbard tips and a nice silver religious medal
