Having lived and prospected in Az. for the past 14 years, I can assure everyone that there is no Bronco Canyon, or fabulous gold deposit in that area.

Names change.   There are clearly "kernels" of truth to this legend whether the legend itself is true or simply a very tall tale.   Why can't there be a small, but relatively rich pocket of gold there?   It wouldn't be the first such in Arizona.

The gold ledge was there and they worked it. They discovered the load, the best I can tell, around the mid to early 1870's. The lost pick mine or bumble lost ledge or what ever you want to call it was rediscovered in 1891 and a mining operation was started there. It was called the " Rich N Bar " mine. Ck. it out.
