Go Up Go Down

Researchers have found fossils of the biggest known snake in the world, a discovery that could shed light on the climate of the tropics in the past.

The scientists estimate the snake lived 58 to 60 million years ago and was around 13 metres long. The giant, found in northeastern Colombia, dwarfs modern pythons and anacondas which usually don't exceed 6-6.5 metres and are thought to be the largest living snakes.

Since snakes are poikilotherms that, unlike humans, need heat from their environment to power their metabolism, the researchers suggest that at the time the region would have had to be 30 to 34 degrees Celsius for the snake to have survived. Most large snakes alive today live in the South American and southeast Asian tropics, where the high temperatures allow them to grow to impressive sizes.

Go Up Go Down

A few years ago I was consulting for an independent film producer who attempted to find, and document giant snakes surviving in a mountain range in Utah. The investigation was based on eyewitness reports.

A friend of mine, a Mayan Shaman, traveled from Florida, to perform a ritual at one of the sightings.

We are awaiting permits to conduct a Treasure search in another part of Utah, this spring. Petroglyph's on the rocks appear to represent various events of different periods of ancient history all at this one site. An Indian mine, a tiny Spanish mission, a Spanish Treasure depository, travelers from Israel, as late as 2,000 years ago, and as far back as 10,000 years ago. a deity stick figure, Aztec sacrifice, and ET's with crab like hands and feet. I found on the Internet a  photo of  a rock painting inside a tiny cave in Arizona of the same ET.

I hope this permitting comes through. I'm very curious to investigate the  ancient historical significance of this area.    Dell
