Improvised Explosive Devices, or IEDs count for 60% of deaths in the Middle East war zones. This new technology to detect them might be the "mine detector" of our generation.

Mine detectors from WWII led to the development of modern day metal detectors which are now generations ahead of those original machines. In the future, this technology will most likely be expanded to include things other than explosives. One can only watch and see.

Thanks for sharing that GD!  Interesting techniques.  Perhaps it can lead to someday a gold detector that can pinpoint gold nuggets and veins.  Just like you suggest, that the old mine detector led to the technology of today in detectors.   Detecting
