The year 1887 Australia

There was Gold fever in the air and men were leaving their Families ,Farms  and decent jobs to join the rush for overnight riches .

This true story is centred around Harold Lasseter , a well seasoned prospector who could handle Australias harsh enviroment all 7.7 million square kilometers of it .

Camels, shifting sands? That interior IS rugged. I really enjoyed the read and all the googling it led to.  Smiley Sue

Don't know who all have looked at this page, but though I would include it here for those of us (me especially) who are new to Australian fold lore on Lasseter's Reef.

True.  LOL and one day I will find it, though like Lassiter, probably not live to enjoy it as I am all to unawares of the dangers of the bush and will probably be killed by a dingo (or another metal detectorist protecting his territory with a boomerang thrown at my head. There is a curse after all on Lassiter's gold.

Hello All

Lassiters reef is the most famous. It is a classic tale as mentioned. Reasonably well documented.

But I think there is other much more interesting little known treasure stories from other parts of the country.

There has been many claims about the story. Some even claim that they had found it. Others claim it is a myth.

The more you research into Harold Bell Lassiter the more you can begin to understand him. In some respects he succeeded as his name lives on in legend.

Hardluck
