A very short story about “The Pride of Australia”
Plaster replica of the 'Pride of Australia' gold nugget. Found Mosquito Gully, Beggary Hills, north of Wedderburn, Victoria, in 1981.
Dimensions: 22 x 15 x 7 cm.
Weight:  256 ounces. Or 7 kilograms
Named for the similarity of its shape to a map of Australia (minus Tasmania),
the nugget was stolen from an exhibition at Museum Victoria in 1992 and has never been recovered.
This replica is part of the Mineralogy Collections at Museum Victoria.

Just like the gold bar stolen from the Mel Fisher Museum in Key West.
Even though the security camera captured a video of the theft, the gold bar has not been recovered after 2 years.
