GOLD BASIN, Ariz. (AP) - The pickup truck bounces violently along a dirt track better suited to wild burros and goats, its driver scanning the stark desert landscape for signs of his quarry.

Hoss Blackman is out hunting - not for critters - but for gold.

The self-described "electronic prospector" and expedition guide begins his search for buried treasure by scouring the desert with a powerful battery-operated metal detector. He's looking for old tin cans, buttons, coins, abandoned claim stakes - any evidence that "the old-timers" had worked through the area.
