It's a sad fact that anywhere in the world where there are anything to be stolen someone will. Like the report suggests that you are likely to get a more hefty fine for a parking offense than night hawking. A lot of these do use sophisticated equipment and know where the items are likely to be. In some instances the sites are in some remote locations and therefore they can safely work away. With some of the Police forces already stretched on resources it makes it a bit more difficult to catch these people as these incidents might not be classed as high priority. Tougher punishments and heavy fines would help alot

I also belive the archaeologists may have alot to do with this study. There are many legal MDs that are making great and historic finds
and the archs aren't in the spotlight as much. But I do wish we had a system here in the US as they do. Happy Hunting!!! Ben
