Odyssey Board Member George E. Lackman, Jr. Passes
Tampa, FL - April 3, 2008 - Odyssey Marine Exploration, Inc. (NasdaqCM: OMEX) today announced with sadness the loss of Board Member George E. Lackman, Jr. on March 29, 2008 at the age of 77. Mr. Lackman served as a Director from November 2002 until his death.

Our sincere condolences go out to George's family and loved ones. His sharp wit, warm personality, and great sense of humor will be greatly missed and will continue to live on in our memories," said Greg Stemm, Odyssey Chief Executive Officer.
The Board of Directors' governance committee will meet, in due course and in accordance with Board policies, to nominate a successor.
Mr. Lackman, a Tampa, Florida native, joined Odyssey Board of Directors in 2002, bringing his experience from a distinguished career in banking, business operations, shipbuilding, international business and public service to the Company. He was founding Chairman and President of Citrus Park Bank, which was sold to Florida National Bank in 1985. As a senior officer of Florida National he served at different times as Head of Retail Banking, Business Banking and Commercial Banking for the Tampa area. Following the merger of Florida National and First Union National Bank he started the first Private Banking Program in the Tampa area for First Union. He retired from First Union as Vice President of Corporate Development.
Active in Tampa Port affairs for many years, Mr. Lackman spent 25 years in the shipyard business including service as Vice President of Tampa Ship Repair and Dry Dock Company, Tampa's largest shipyard. He was President of Nutri-Sol Chemical Company, Marine Insulation Company, Corban Industries and Acetogen Gas Company of Florida. Mr. Lackman's international experience spanned service as President of an International Investment Group, Chairman of the Tampa Chamber of Commerce International Board and as President/Chairman of the Tampa Bay International Business Council. He also served as an Advisor to the Central American Banks with specific emphasis on Guatemala.
As a civic leader, Mr. Lackman focused on health care with emphasis on services to reduce infant mortality and improve prenatal care. His leadership contributions ranged from Tampa city organizations to statewide groups, including significant service as the organizer and chair of a state-sponsored health management organization. His involvement in community affairs included leadership in major groups associated with business, development and higher education. Well known for his hobby of delivering yachts throughout the Atlantic seaboard, the Caribbean Islands, Mexico and the Lower Pacific Ocean, George Lackman was also recognized throughout the fishing world as an inventor and held patents on currently manufactured weedless propellers used on electric fishing motors. Mr. Lackman attended the Georgia Institute of Technology and served as a commissioned officer in the United States Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War.
