The Geology Of Gold

As most of you already know, gold typically occurs in fractured “host”  rocks (granite, schist, quartz, etc.) as veins or lodes. The Sierra  Nevada Batholith (the source of the California Motherlode Region’s gold)  is a good example of this sort of deposit on a grand scale.

Cool Beans!

I've been at this for years and taken notes on the Green Rock Associated with my finds.

This is the first source I've seen to mention it.

I have two locations I find Gold, Not Good Gold but Gold associated with green Rock. Gravels.

These Finds are Here In New Mexico and not locations mentioned but Green the same.

In my Mind Green is associated with Copper and Copper is Associated with Silver and Gold.

6) Greenstone Belt Au Deposits: These are very ancient gold deposits geologically speaking (older than 2 billion years), and no longer form on the earth today. However, examples of these ancient deposits can be found in Australia, Canada, and Africa in various locations.

It would seem New Mexico Too! Wise

Thanks Christian Smiley good info!

Homefire,
I remember seeing some gold ore from one of the old mines near Thunder Mountain that had a definite greenish cast. I too thought of copper because it was that same look. Now I wished I had snagged some to crush and check out.
