Idaho,
You aren't kidding on either point.........those deserts are harsh---especially in the summer, and they do hide their secrets well, otherwise all of us who live in sunny Arizona would already be rich.

Go Up Go Down

I have spent a lot of time in the Black Canyon area detecting for gold. I found a few pickers while there but no bonanza. The black Canyon area is a BIG BIG area and hard to cover with a 14 inch coil. I know two guys who in the early 1980's his some patches with bunches of small nuggets but not the big placer of legend. Do I think it is there? Maybe, could well be, probably. In the six years I worked that area it changed with every storm. Many people ask how could you loose something like that. Well just set in the desert one evening and watch how the contours of the hills change with the light. You will see mountains and canyons that you looked directly at in the day and never saw. Amazing really. Hope this helps anybody looking for the placer. Don't give up. It is probably still up there somewhere.

Junker Great
