Pegleg may have been a notorious liar, but I sure keep an eye out for signs of his nuggets when I'm in southwest Arizona.

Having been raised in California and spending as much of my free time wandering the desert as possible; Researching pegleg's travels, I always figured he made it through the Chocolate mtns of Imperilal Co., Which became a Naval Bombing Range during WW2. A friend always wanted to check the area out, but I wasn't into dodging F14's practicing.....

And if he found his gold on the Arizona side of the Colorado River, you still have the Yuma Proving Grounds and the Goldwater Bombing range eating up huge chunks of the most likely areas.
