Bad Move parking it in the UK.     Lets see how long it takes someone to try to snatch this one like they did with the Spanish Gold.

My guess is it was Silver to pay the USA for War Time Supplies and or Arms.

Did Lloyds Insure it?   If so will they try to Recoup it?

I duno about you but this don't make no sense to me.

The 165 crew and 18 passengers abandoned the ship after it was hit by a torpedo. All but seven crew members, who drowned when their lifeboat overturned, were rescued by HMS Laburnum.
