Hi All,

My name is Dana Lillie and I am the Casting Assistant for Discovery Studios. Discovery Studios is the full-service production house within Discovery Communications, the number one nonfiction media company reaching more than 1.8 billion cumulative subscribers in 217 countries and territories. Discovery Studios is dedicated to satisfying curiosity by developing and producing innovative, high-quality original programming in any format on any platform.

We are developing a new series around the history, collection, and distribution of Ambergris. We are looking for Americans who have experience in hunting for Ambergris or are interested in discovering this valuable resource compared to gold. Please send me an email at dana_lillie@discovery.com if you are interested.

Thank you so much, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Best Regards,

Dana Lillie

Aside from hunting sperm whales, there is only one other place to find it in nature and that is on the beach. Exactly how many parts to a series can be made about it?

Whale snot, actually. You can find it tangled up in seaweed on the beach. When the sperm whale blows, it exits in clumps as big as a small garbage pail and gets washed up with seaweed. Unless there is a doubloon inside, no detector will find it. But you can see it. A kind of yellowish clear gel mixed in seaweed. I have seen it covered in sand as a lump on the beach. The New England coast is probably the best place on earth to find it due to the abundance of sperm whales in the North Atlantic.

Yuck, Well that explains why it is rare, But what possible use could it be, Is it for Chinese Herbal Remedy's,

I wonder if it  can be found on the South Eastern Coast of Queensland because there are Whale Pods always up around The Harvey Bay Area But I think that they are Hump Back Whales
I went with family and friends there back in 1993,

They press it for the oil in it. Watchmakers and watch repairers would kill for it.

Thanks homefire for the info.
but my dream to become reach was short lived. Angry
its apparently illegal to trade it it in Australia or US
that's an extract from Wikipedia
Australia – Under federal law, the export and import of ambergris for commercial purposes is banned by the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. The various States and Territories have additional laws regarding ambergris.[13]
United States – The possession and trade of ambergris is prohibited by the Endangered Species Act of 1973.[14]
