Go Up Go Down

I stopped selling story's some years ago for several reasons, but now we have Thunting so we can share all or as little as we wish. I have always enjoyed sharing info on treasures and well do so freely on projects that I am no longer looking for or will never have the time to look for.
I just hope I don't go nuts like several others have lately because they felt unappreciated. If you see me headed in that direction please take me into the PM room and set me straight  I just want the info out there for all to see.

Every creek, pond, and bayou has a lost cannon story and 75% are brass. Most are still lost I guess you see few in museums or private collections.

Thanks for the story seldom. Your stories are appreciated. I was told to let people know that, lol. But really though thanks it is a cool story.   Smiley  I think other posters don't realize that most views are probably people passing through their topic with no real interest. The ones with interest do respond. Although thunting.com seems like a huge world wide site in my opinion it's still pretty small as far as serious thunters viewing. But than I could be wrong. Wish those other guys didn't have to get so emo and disappear.

Seldom, Have you ever seen an article that has a picture of two guys wrestling a cannon up what appears as a muddy bank? They were using inner tubes to float it.

Don't remember seeing anything like that, but will check around. Heard a story about 2 guys finding a cannon on the banks of the Trinity last year but could get little info on it so blow it off. I was interested on why it was there not in the cannon itself.

I think this picture was 1980s or so. There was something in the story about "not" finding the suspected only cannon made by a certain gentleman or armery, but finding the one in the picture instead.

Thanks for all the great stories and information seldom!! I don't see how you keep all that info up there in your head! I am sure I will run out of room up there before I have half the info to share as you do.

You can not keep it all in your head LOL. You need to keep notes and files on the different treasures that interest you. As I have said before I like hard copy's book's reports, news articles etc. I want to hold it in my hand be able to compare several stories side by side. Once you do this you will be surprised how many stories are the same with just name and dollar amount changes. I will use cannons as an example here as that was the topic.
There is at less 5 legends about the twin sisters cannons the one you and I are interested in are the ones used at San Jacinto, but I have heard and read stories about a set used in the civil war plus Christies Auction House had a set of cannons list awhile back as the twin sisters. There was a set for sale at a shop right here on the Island before Ike at a Strand antique shop. What I am getting at if you don't keep good records all that info can get pushed together in you head and who knows what will come out.
Sorry guys I am just rambling need more coffee will try to explain myself after the 4th cup.

Thats so very true Seldom, so many storys get twisted or names added or changed during a retelling and then it's hard to sort out the truth. But thats also the fun part for me, digging up clues and sifting for answers and leads.
