# 8. The story is total untrue.  I live in Connecticut and did a great deal of research, and even interview family members, and they deny the story.

I am not here to harass or insult any members.  I have live in Connecticut most of my life.  I have research this story more then anybody including those who never live in Connecticut.  Lost Treasure Magazine once published this story many times for many years until I advice them the story is untrue.  The true story is that the wagons went to Boston and may had 13 wagons of supplies but only few coins for supplies.  No country including France and our country did not have gold coins.  Mostly exchange with food and items.  This story stated with a old woman writing a letter to a Hartford, Ct newspaper and the treasure magazines run with it.  William Bates living in the tavern love to tell stories including to me.  If true, the treasure were had been found by now.  Many years after interviewing William, I interview his son in law and I had asked the most important question of all.  Did you father in law really believe the story and his response was nobody in the family had heard about this story until they had read the letter to the editor as mention above.  I had wasted my time, and I do not want anybody else to waste their time.  Both interview was back in the Sixty.  The tavern was sold to a singer and he moved it.  I am always interesting in hearing about true buried stories about my great state.  Good hunting and good luck.

So someone swept the dust off this old thread. What a fun read for someone coming home late from work. Lots of old friends and a beer to toast them all. Happy Hunting.

This story is total untrue.  I am still seeking information on buried treasures in Connecticut that you have up looking for.  Good hunting and good luck.
