The Booty of Three Robbers of Ear-
lier Days.
Dave Rodgers, a West Dallas carpenter, is making an
opening in mother earth on White Rock creek, three
miles from town, in the hope of securing $25,000.
He was taken in partnership by a man with a secret
and an old Spanish chart. The secret is that fifty years
ago, three robbers, who had long operated in this section,
were rounded up by vigilantes, and two of them killed and
the third wounded. The wounded man escaped to the west
and finally died of his wound, but, before expiring, he told
where he and his party had buried $25,000, and gave a
chart of the country and explanation of how the location
of the money could be determined.
Mr. Rodgers is the owner of a Spanish dip needle, and this
is why the man with the secret and the Spanish chart took
him in.
It is a cold day when Dallas fails to have a buried treasure,
but with all the digging, nobody has yet struck a cent.
