So this is probably insane, but I've found several suspicious pieces in the same area over the course of the last week. We've had a good push of surf recently which may be why this was revealed.

I live in south Florida and I walk the beaches daily for exercise. I found these pieces and chisled one open as you can see. The other pieces haven't been touched yet and are currently sitting in water. The one piece above the spoon is actually fairly thin but weighs close to 5lbs. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Welcome from New Mexico.

I would soak the encrusted things in Vinegar and pick away what's left. Cool

Interesting but cant tell from the pics what you found excatly. Silver will break down in salt water and melt together where as gold will not. But some of it looks like it is being washed ashore from a possible wreck. The wreck could be just off shore for that matter do you scubba ? You may want to and see what else you can find.

You may also want to metal detect the beach where your finding that stuff it is possible for gold coins to wash up and get buried in the sand. Probably do it at night though since they just passed that stupid law.
