Excellent story G7, and thanks for sharing.  Even if there is no gold in that quartz, it could be rutilated quartz. I have some quartz gemstones with rutile needles running through the quartz.  I have some in gold, black and red. The more needled in the stone, the higher price the stone.  If you should happen to have any of the quartz, the Tucson Gem show is normally in February.
