I followed a sory about a stage stop with a well on an 'older' friends wooded land.  When I asked permission to check it out he also told me of a story of buried spanish gold around the well.  I found the old brick well and was able to trace the old roads, but it is very over-grown.  Now I am looking for signs of where the buildings were.  Back to the history books to find the old stage routes through the area.

Great posts. Just think if we could find something from just asking someone. I know it has happened.

Christian....
Nice information, and really enjoyed the read....
One of the problems is knowing what "tools" are out there to do research online, and how to access that vault of research material...
I say this because this is where the tire meets the road, and although we have some excellent State libraries here in Sacramento, California it is an all day affair at the library of which I have done in the past...
Then there is the micro-fishing machines.....the library charges .25 cents per page to copy.....
These are not complaints....not at all....perseverance always pays off...
My gripe is, at least here in Sacramento, we can't access a lot of information online at these fine libraries....perhaps I may be able to submit an idea to the city authorities to charge a membership fee for online access?
Anyway....one of the things that I really enjoy about treasure hunting and prospecting the most is the research....and research is perhaps 80% of just getting to an area to prospect....
Again....your post is really enjoyable, and thanks for posting it...
