Has anyone come across a waybill or inventory list for Maximilian's treasure? I have heard anywhere from 15 to 45 barrels of it including some of the crown jewels of Belgium (Carlota) and Austria.

Maximilian before his capture and death knew what the future held and because of this he collected his 15 Million  which were Australian, Spanish, and American gold coins, gold and silver plate and some bullion. This is how the legend goes anyway. He had all his treasures places onto wagons with the instructions for the drivers to go to San Antonio, Texas and then to Galveston, Texas where the treasure could be sent to Austria and into the hands of his wife Carlota.

MY 2 cents!
Gen. Joe Shelby and his men went to Mexico to "help" Poor Max. with is delima
See, Joe Shelby life was saved by Frank James in the Civil War.When the war ended
Joe's men went with him to Mexico. Opened a "Trucking Company" down there.
Max hired him and is army to guard his treasure along with some Prussian Guards.
Ole Joe sends word to Jess and Frank who are in OK. to come on down and "Help" out.
On the way into Texas, Joe's men kill the Prussian Guards, burn some of the wagons, an
and make appear to be Indian attack.  They bury half in West Texas and the other halfi n Cement Okla. Shocked.....this loot was buried in the hopes of buying the Indian Nations(before OKLA. became state) and make it a Confederate State....but Jesse gets killed, Frank gives himself up in Mo.  3 years later, trial is over and Okla. has been a state.....all kinds of folks living there....Oh, Old Joe did testify at Franks trial as to how good a man he was. Rider  Frank later moves to Fletcher and rides
all around "hunting"....and not for deer Wise
