Yes, I know there's a lake there now, but if this happened to me, I would ask the guy to try and show me the approximate spot in the lake. I know he probably couldn't pin point it, but it would be a start.

i think one of the reasons treasure like this hard to find, is due to the fact the originators of the story almost allways exaggerate or lie about the true location to protect it.
also did the US have a department that went looking for "national treasures" during ww1/ww2 ?, the UK did.
hey you never know, gold and silver have allways had a corrupting influence.
