Yup those old Jeeps are cool but if you find one that isn't a bucket of rust it's gonn'a cost you all the gold in them thar hills.  Hi-Lux's are just about as bad, sort of a mystique about those rigs.  Now a Zuki Samurai or Chev Tracker might be a little more affordable and with a modest lift and the right tires would make a good mountain goat.  Have to look into that possibility.

Gramps

Yup tis an idea to pursue but at the moment I have to concentrate on getting my S10 back to normal.  It needs a rear bumper and a front bumper cover and then figger out why the A/C ain't blow'n cold.  Should be have her in primo shape come summer.

Later McDude.

I have a short box 4x4 s10 with a 3 inch body lift. 32 inch tires still rub on tight turns though. Fun lil truck but I been rebuilding it all for a few years now. Making it like new all over.

My boys have geo trackers, good lil mountain rigs if you don't need to carry much. Kinda light for snow but do good on narrow wood roads. Got both of em for around 500 each and a few hundred more for new parts. Goes to the hills and back for a $20 in gas. Maybe $25 now with the increase...

I'm going to have to talk to my wife's boss, he runs a used car lot, that's where I got my S10 LS, and see what he can do about finding me a 4WD for a reasonable price after trading the S10 back to him.  It's a great little truck with low miles, a canopy it just isn't 4WD.

Gramps I always wanted the 68, S10 swb, A friend back in Oz had one with a 396 in it, that thing went like a cut snake, mind you he was/is a Pro drag racer his funny car was good for 6 seconds on the 1/4 and his S10 was good for low 12s

I'll bet that S10 was wicked scary to drive, all that power and an SWB makes for real twitchy ride.

It was a bit of a beast, he had lowered it by about 3" and stiffend the suspension coz he used it as his Tow Car for the Drag car, It was just plain white with a set of Crager wheels and it looked quite plain from the outside, But when it was running your chest could feel the vibration from the Exhausts, it could shread tyres like a man posest,

Don't reckon I need quite that much pwr to get me up these hills cause they didn't cut the roads with real steep grades.  You don't a truck full of logs going down a steep grade and have the brakes give out and have a truck, driver and logs at the bottom of a deep ravine.  needless to say if the driver didn't bail those logs bringing up the rear would make a permanent part of the landscape, Burrrrr.

Later dude,
