My area also has its tales of confederate gold.
If you live in a state that was either a member of the Confederate States of America, or one of those states affectionately known as a "border state", odds are you do have tales of lost Confederate gold.   Of course, if the Confederate States of America had had that gold to lose, the War of Northern Aggression might have turned out differently

There are many pieces of the puzzle in that area. Now the archives were stored in an out building that looks more like a small office building for the estate. The building still stands as of 2002 which was the last time I saw it. I am not sure of the distance from Trenton SC to Johnston SC. But it has been stated that Shermans scouts and or skirmishers were in Johnston SC gathering Intel during Shermans march to Columbia SC. The archives were already in storage at that house before Sherman's march.
