The two mines that Bell found go by several names, the Lost Rhoads Mine the Lost bear river Mine and the Bell mine along with several other names
Heber Bell's son recalls that his father and uncle found two old mines close to their cabin above the Stillwater Fork of the Bear River. At one of them they uncovered a squared post set in the ground, as if it had been a claim boundary marker. Cut into one side of that post were the initials "T R." Could that marker have been placed there by Thomas Rhoads? One of those mines located close by the Bell's cabin must have contained very rich ore, for Heber Bell's son still remembers that as a boy he saw four of the old-fashioned large size blue-colored Bromo Seltzer bottles and two fruit jars filled with nuggets and pieces of yellow gold! As nearly as he can recall, it was his impression that gold came from a cache found in one of those old mines on the mountain above Stillwater. After his father filled one of those bottles with gold, it was so heavy that young Bell couldn't lift it!-

Most history points to the LRM actually being located on the Ute Indian Reservation.  Make sure you do your research before you head up that way.  Quite a few people have lost their lives looking for that mine and that gold...
