Hello All

Seldom I have a tendency to agree with you about Doc Noss being a con man cashing on a gold scam, that unfortunately for him when he couldn't deliver it ended in him getting killed. However he has immortalized himself into history as the central figure of the Victorio peak treasure legend.

That said there does seem that there was or still is treasure in Caballo mountains that perhaps still there today?

Hey Hardluck  Caballo mountains are were its at if anywhere. Over the years stoty's about the CM have been adapted to VP. I mean some tails from the 20's and 30's have been retold word for word with only the location changing. Old Ove and her followers have made a mess of this. But I think there is treasure at Caballo, now to figure out were it came from how it got there and why? I think we are going to have to do some digging to get the answers but we got a hell of a team here just wish Sue would jump in.

Thanks BA, Jones, Bernt, and every one thats helped

Hello Seldom

I think you have great idea there and yes I agree with you. So Sue if your reading this please join us as we miss your excellent research abilities.

First I  think to start the ball rolling we should get as many newspaper articles, journals, articles of treasure finds, stories and legends connected to the Caballo Mountains.

Second the name Nick Flemming comes to mind. He has a website and mining claim. It would be interesting to see more into the current operation and other claims of other people to the site.

Third it would be kind of interesting to see if we can logically work out the most likely origin of the treasure being discovered there?

The project is open to all who want join us.

But please post in the Caballo Mountains thread

Are several treasures who knows, also the finds that have been made that might answer some of the questions about Doc and VP that we can't seem to get at.

They are located south of Truth or Consequences New Mexico, East of I-10 and Caballo Lake. Hard to miss those torn and twisted mountains.

Hello I THINK THE STORY IS TRUE. I THINK A LARGE AMT OF GOLD WAS TAKEN FROM THE PEAK. I THINK THERE IS A SMALL AMT LEFT. THE TREASURE WAS SEEN AFTER DOC COULD NOT GO THERE. THE GOV GOT CONTROL AND WOULD NOT ALLOW IT TO BE PUBLIC.

There must have been a BIG treasure there as the US Government extended the missile range to encompass VP.  The government always makes a park or military base on top of a treasure site.

This is a partial list of artifacts that came out of that area that I have seen photos of:

A royal  (queen's)  crown, with 243 diamonds and large ruby ( belonged to empress Carlotta ), a sword, made for the Austrian honor guard for emperor Maximillian, in the 1850's --- a suit of armor that he gave to his helper, Benny Samaniego, and who used to wear it in parades ----- a pair of cruciform stirrups ---- (he hocked them to a man in El Paso)---a parchment map drawn by Padre LaRue in 1797 ---- a gold coin, a silver piece of eight,  a silver ring engraved with Napoleon III, Empereur Francais 1857 inside it ---- a silver cross, engraved on one side with the name 'KINO' who was a famous Spanish priest that discovered that Baja California was not an island --- and who left his little silver 'calling card' crosses when he visited various mining districts throughout Mexico and Arizona --- but is not known to have ever visited New Mexico. ( but he left one at Hembrillo Pass in a mound of rocks )  On the other side of Kino's cross was the date, 1711.  His other crosses are in museums --- there may be other artifacts I am forgetting -------    If there was no fire, WHY is there so much smoke ?? My understanding is that LBJ removed a portion of this cache with the help of the U.S. Army. And yes, I expect to get all sorts of flack for saying this.
