Don't know anyone that has built it.   It's simple enough.

This is a rather old post.   Look at the dates.

If at first you fail, try then try again. There's no point in telling us it does not work if you do not show us what you did or explain what is happening.

You can tell us 100 times that it's not working and I will tell you the same thing, post photos of your handy work and tell us a bit more about your build, for example tell us how you made the coil.

I have built the matchless metal locater which is about the same as the bounty treasure hunter. The major problem here is stability of the threshold. It needs tuning every minute or so. But it does ignore iron in favour of non ferrous. Never figured out how to get it stable. Nice build just for experience. Good detection depth.

Normally if you have instability it comes from your coil, what type of coil configuration did you use on it?

It was a dd coil arrangement. If my memory is correct,Thomas Scarborough was the author of the epe bounty treasure hunter and the matchless metal locator projects. He did point out in the project text that the circuit drifts an required frequent retuning. By the way Xavier, I got my home built Heathkit gd348 clone to ignore ferrous metals. It only detects non ferrous and detection depth is app.7 inches on small coins. It operates at 100khz like the compass 77b and others. It can see through iron like nails mixed in with good stuff. Good for hunting trashy sites?  I am surprised at such a simple design (transistors only) producing excellent results. I have  the layout for the circuit if anybody interested. I am currently designing a PCB layout for the heathkit gd1290 since I can't get the assembly manual.
