Hey GD1950,
I am making a deal with someone for a Sea Hunter XL500 pulse with a 13" coil.... The thing looks new and appears not to ever be used..... I am offering $350.. do you think it is still worth that? He wants $400.... He thinks it post 1996... do you know how to tell what year the modle is as I looked at there modles made over the years... and it looked like it was made up til 2001?? Anythink you might suggest for me to check out before forking over the cash as I haven't used a pulse type of detector yet??? Did you say yours was a XL500 pulse or mark II??

The coil does have two small hail line cracks... looks like from sitting as it does not look used or abused... I think I could seal it with epoxy.. something that will not interfere with the coil pulse output.. (maybe even a few wraps of electrical tape)

Thanks,
Keith

Dip the coil in epoxy to seal the cracks. Under no circumstances dive with it before you send it to Garrett for a checkup. Tell him the exta $50 is for them to check it out.

Looks like a fair deal overall.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
