Hi,
i have found the schematic for GD348 Heathkit

The GD-348 was an excellent detector: good sensitivity to tiniest targets 70cm, good iron rejection

I have found some tips for Increasing sensitivity of the GD-48 at this link:

Cool ol machine for sure.

Not much info on the coil.

I would rather have a shot building the TGSL. Cool

I did not have a look at it yet but if it's an LC circuit having C you can workout L so that should not be too hard to do for a chap like you.Ho but you do have to know what the frequency is.

4.5Khz as per the link.

I'm looking for something 15Khz and above.

Think I may try to mod the IGSL.

I have just the thing for you but you must give me a few days for me to prove that it's working (Again) only thing is that I'm on 16Khz. I don't know if you can remember but I was working on this project about 2 1/2 years ago. It,s quite a simple build just the coil that's a bugger depth that I was getting on my prototype was 250mm for a small sinker. The objective was to find non ferrous metals so I used lead sinkers for all my testing I guess that it would be good for gold too . Why I say that I have to prove that it's working is that I lost the original design so I had to re-do it. If I got it right you could build it in one day but the coil will take you three.

All the best Xavier

Cranking up the Freq on the TGSL is no problems.   It runs at 14.6 as is.

If I doubled that, I would have to do something about the Audio tone.

I take it that the TX coil would be 20-22 cm
