I like my old Garrets at 15Khz.   They find Natural Gold fine down to  10th gram.  Easy at 7" or so.   Not so hot on the Smaller Stuff.  Wonder how this will do.

If we make a very small DD coil , it should be sensitive enough to pick up the the fine stuff.

I have the clear original King Cobra schematic and the latest re-drawn one from 3 years ago. And I have the final   pcb files in pcad 2006. I am working on making the files ready to post here with a parts list.  Making sure no errors before I order a few boards and parts. I am taking my time on this one. If anyone on here built this "King Cobra" 15 khz version already , you are more than welcome to post your  final pictures here !!

I am just now putting the information together on this cool project, originally from another forum .  I do not think the circuit boards are being sold anymore. I am looking for the final schematic and final pcb sprint lay-out file.

The nice pcb boards that were made in 2015 were called Marauder pictured below and below the original king cobra schematic  from W. Lahr . I am looking for the large 15 khz DD search coil data also.

HH..............Eugene

King Cobra is a difficult project for me but I think it is a nice MD than IDX..

guys, on present perfect i do not have free pcbs for sale. so you can order a batch using cad file.
King Cobra is not difficult project. if it seems difficult you can simplify the schematic making only 'GMT 1650', without notch part.

I still have over 100 plastic housings for the King Cobra, some face plates without decal, battery doors and some 60 complete rods left if anyone is interested. Keith Wills

hi Redhead, schematic is left same. no differencies in rev 3 vs 1.1.
i delete components around preamp because unused. layout was retraced to more sheen view Kiss
two resistors in SMD were changed on inductivities.
i choiced white silk i got much orders at winter like the winter project but to my surprise these people do not wish to order.  Smiley

Hi NE555
Hi all,

And what are the approximate values of these inductances?

I am also surprised to find on the Golden Sabre a resistance of 47K in the oscillator, whereas it is only 4.7K on the COBRA.

Thanks.

hello Chevesne, inductances value is 60-100uH. if you are in course i bought original GMT and every resistor was measured and checked under zoom glass.
i can say nothing about Golden Sabre just cause i am not keeping it in my hands. 47k seems more logical here IMO, you are right.
