Go Up Go Down

Hi to you all

I'm looking for a RF Oscillator that is stable to use in my new VLF MD it should run at 16Khz must have a gain control and be driven by 5, 9 or 12Volts or a VCO from 9Khz to 16Khz I have found a lot on the net that would do but the voltage is all wrong or the components are hard to find do any of you have a schematic that I could use?

Best Regards
Xavier

First of all, a 9-16khz oscillator is an audio oscillator, not an RF oscillator. Perhaps a new search might yield better results.

Are you looking for a sine wave? Square wave?

Hi GD

OK now you got me  Shocked I have an LC oscillator that's the same as you would find in a radio right? so if I have it oscillating at 500Khz or 16Khz what?s the difs? still RF no?
I am wanting a sin wave I can make nice square waves with a 555 stable and all so I thought I would transform the square to sine it works but not like I want it?s not that nice smooth sin wave know what I mean.  Grin

The audio frequency range goes up to around 20khz because that's the range that humans can hear. Apply the sine wave to a speaker and you get hum. Apply it to a coil and you get a magnetic field. The range is still in the audio spectrum. I mentioned it because you indicated you didn't have too many search results. That may be why.

A 555 used to generate a sine wave via an LC network is a great idea because of the voltage range of the device. Look up "+DIY audio frequency sine oscillator" on Google (without the quotes) and see what you turn up. This looks absolutely perfect for your application.

Thanks GD

I will do that I have found a lot of oscillators that could have been very nice but they run at -15v +15v and that will not do then I found quite a few using two op-amps but once agian voltage was no good.

Regards
Xavier

Xavier,
If you truly can't find a oscillator that works with the voltages you want to use, check out using an MC33063 step up regulator.  These will take a low voltage, as low as 3 volts and convert it to pretty much anything you need. I've used one to get 15 volts for a PMT supply that I am using.  I have attached the data sheet.
