Question How do you count you turns ,?

I used an electronic step counter.
You can pick them up for next to nothing.
I had to extend the contacts and put a copper strip on the coil board. Works very very well.

I thought most epoxies are resins or a polymer mixed with a resin.

Yes you are quite right but the resin used for boat making (Fiber glass) will shrink by 7% epoxy has polyurethane in it and will only shrink by about 0.2%. I'm not an expert in the subject of resins but be careful what you use when making coils it would be a real shame to spend hours getting a coil made up just to see it start to twist because of the wrong product used.

I should also mention that when I encapsulate my coils I do it in two steps, first I pour a layer in the mold let it set then place the coil on top of it and fill the rest, this allows the coil to be well centered in the molding and prevents over heating too.

Every time the contact is closed then opened it increments by one, there is a wait till low in the switch code so if the switch is kept in the closed position it will not count.
