If you can get it for less then $50.00 or so Hit it.

I like the older stuff.

In the Right Hands, it will keep up with Newer machines and can do a few Tricks the New ones can't.

20-30 hours on batteries.

Rechargeables are good for about 15-20.

Okay guys, I've got another question. Which mode is for coins and which one is for relics? And, how deep can this machine pick up signals?

Hi BD well both will pick up coins ya better off using the disc until you get use to any machine coz that way you won't have to work so hard and it should work on coins 6 to 8 inches maybe 10 "

Okay guys, I've got another question. Which mode is for coins and which one is for relics? And, how deep can this machine pick up signals?

The VLF mode has discrimination and is used for coins. The TR mode is used for relics and will find iron at incredible depths. This is one screaming machine. Yes, it is heavy but the balance is very good with the stock coil so it doesn't wear at you like the sister model, the Groundhog.

Get two sets of rechargeable batteries and you won't worry too much about batteries. Just charge both sets the day before. Use NiCads, if you can find them. Lower capacity than NiMh but they don't self discharge like the NiMh do. The machine uses 6 at a time and back in the 1970s, there were mods made to the battery tray to add a charge jack by some third party folk.

You can expect depths of up to 18" on a silver quarter or half dollar using the stock coil. Not right away, but after you get used to the machine. It does use discrimination but there is also tone discrimination meaning that you can actually hear a difference between types of metal if you wear headphones and listen very carefully.

This was a top machine for its time and it's still a go getter today. Don't hesitate in making this purchase but don't pay too much over $125.00 for it. That would be my advice.
