Metal Detecting Training Dvd

Greetings,
Would you buy, or would of bought a training dvd on metal detecting showing all aspects of detecting to get a person started in our great hobby? I would love some feedback on this subject as I know when I started, I battled to learn how to use a detector, or where to go to find treasure.

NO! Sorry but people love sucking up money from the Ignorant.
With a few hour of using a metal detector you can learn the basics.
You can learn to learn.
No Book or Tape, Video can duplicate what's in your hands.
No one can teach you the speedy way.
Best they can do is give you the hints and things to look for.
I learned from the Gound up and it took a LONG LONG time.
There is NO short cuts.

Just a few thoughts, Peter.
Some manufacturers offer videos for their machines. Garrett, for example, has free videos on many models on their web site. White's offers a free video catalog with basic instructions on the disk. It would be a hard sell since there are not many commonalities between detectors. You'd always be up against the wall answering questions about specific models which you might not be able to answer.

Gd, thanks for the response.... I do agree with you about having to answer product questions, that would need to be something that you would need to make sure up-front that they understand that the course is not for answering product questions, but is a basic training on how to detect for all machines no matter what make. It would not be a detailed instruction on all the functions for each machine.
When I got my detector, I checked their dvd and downloaded other video's on how to use the machine, but as a beginner I had no-one to tell me what I must do or how to go about it... I learnt the hard way. What I battled with, was how to pinpoint, where to find sites, who do I have to ask about permission to detect a site? What is the best way to dig a find without doing damage? How do I preserve and clean my finds?
This dvd course would be split into about 10 movies dealing with different parts of the hobby to help get them started, and in the correct way. Each movie being about 1/2 hour each....
This is just an idea at the moment..... Just want to see what response I get.

I battle with these same things, but I think the only way is to try doing them. These items may help some tough.

I have to agree with Dion Hurst, even thought information can be found on you tube, A good Training Dvd would be worth its weight in gold if it fully covered the basics and more. All ways give your customer more then they expected, that way you under sale and over deliver, if a Dvd was like that it wold sell like mad. :D

CEaton2012, thank you for the comment,,,,, That was the way I was thinking [great] I know that when I started detecting I had to learn the hard way, which also works... But if there was someone showing me it would of been much better, i.e the dvd.... I nearly gave up at one time due to frustration while learning, so how many people have given up a great hobby because of learning frustrations?
