Hi Chris have you tryed kijiji good spot to check and craigslist
should be some great area's around Sooke ,you might wanna try the Sooke pothole's wish I still lived on Island . I use too live in Sooke, watch out for the cougar's

Hey Outback -- Thanks for the reply

I love hunting at the potholes -- lots of pennies, and one 1940 cent, but otherwise not much else yet. Any beach tips would be welcomed.

Also, have you been to Leechtown? any idea how to get out there?

Can't recall making it out that way sorry
Have you tryed the Esquimalt lagoon beach ,I remember lot's people suntanning at the beach but at that time I did not md back then , and I also don't ever recall seeing anyone with a detector while I was there
