I am a Nubie and am starting to collect useful and necesary tools, sand scoops, etc that will make me better at beach and other sorts of goodie hunting. I'm hoping for a savings on surplus items. I'm in the SF area of norcal.

Doc....read through the Beginners board and the Beach and Shallow Water board to get an idea of what type of equipment you should be looking for and what to look for in the equipment.....then hit the yard sales and craigslist.....In a lot of cases, you can save money by looking at something someone is throwing out (or at least practically giving away) and figuring out how you can repurpose it.   This is especially true when it comes to diggers and sifters.

Good luck,

BA
