My wife has had several business dealings with Hesperian Press, the publisher, for books on Australiana. When she asked about DeHavelland's books, the publisher got sort of snarly and said they'd had a falling out some 15 years ago. He said he had several cases of the books in his storeroom but wouldn't sell her any. Then he refused to discuss it any more. Another good friend of ours who was published several times with him said he gets very possessive over books he publishes.
There are truly better books out there for far less money than the $1,000 or so each of these volumes costs. There are 5 volumes in total. At one time, Minelab gave a full set away with each of their high end detectors. Back then, you could get them at wholesale from Hesperian for under $10.00 each. These books have a sordid history, mate.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
